Greater Europe Missionaries to France

The Mylins

Mark was installed as associate pastor of the Eglise Réformée Evangélique de Montauban in May 2006. He and his wife, Marti, have lived and served in France since 1994, mostly in Paris .  Mark was ordained in 1992 as a missionary pastor by the Presbyterian Church in America after theological studies at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis , Missouri .  They are supported financially and in prayer by American Christians and churches, serving through Greater Europe Mission. mylins.jpg

When he was young, Mark went with his parents to a Presbyterian church, but he was more influenced by the existential philosophy he heard in high school.  When he went away to university, he met students who had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Intrigued by their lifestyle and beliefs, he observed them from a distance.  After a year of struggle, he humbled himself and decided to trust God.  At this point, Mark got involved with the Christian Fellowship on campus and during his last two years of study, he led the group which included 10% of the student population.  Instead of pursuing a career in medicine, he decided to continue in ministry.  Before going for theological training, Mark served for six years as a university campus minister with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF).  It was during this time that he met and married Marti who was also serving in campus ministry with IVCF.

Marti grew up in a believing Presbyterian family.  For as long as she can remember, she knew God and trusted in Jesus Christ.  She received a solid biblical education growing up, but it was at university that her faith matured.  Through the Christian Fellowship group on campus, she learned to speak of her beliefs, to help others grow in faith and to prepare and lead Bible studies.  After university, she too joined the staff of IVCF, helping university students to share their faith and grow in Christ.

At the Montauban church, the Mylins serve two home Bible study groups,  Mark preaches periodically and helps head pastor Brienen with pastoral tasks.  The church is investing financially and with prayer in the establishment of a new church in St. Girons, a small city two hours south of Montauban with no Protestant church.  Mark will be accompanying the new pastor of this small congregation.  Marti works primarily with women in the church and a group of women in ministry from the Montauban area.
